According to organisers of the upcoming Radio and Digital Sound Broadcasting Africa 2024 Summit on 18-19 June 2024 at the Venue Green Park in Johannesburg, South Africa, industry professionals and stakeholders will explore the rapidly evolving regulatory landscape for digital-enabled radio broadcasting.

With technological advancements driving significant changes in how radio content is created, distributed, and consumed, the summit aims to shed light on the critical regulatory considerations broadcasters must navigate to stay ahead in this dynamic environment.

Digital-enabled radio broadcasting encompasses a range of technologies and innovations currently revolutionising the industry, allowing broadcasters to reach wider audiences, offer enhanced audio quality, and provide interactive features that were once foreign to Radio Broadcasting.

Commenting on this, Mr Benjamin Pius, CEO of BMA and the convener of the industry summit, said, “The regulatory landscape for digital-enabled radio broadcasting can be both challenging and simultaneously filled with opportunities. As technology advances, regulators and ,must work together to establish and implement frameworks that foster innovation while safeguarding the interests of all stakeholders. The forthcoming International Summit on Radio and Digital Sound Broadcasting in Johannesburg – which we are co-convening with the Southern Africa Broadcasting Association (SABA) will provide a unique platform for industry executives from across the continent and indeed the globe to discuss and chart the most viable course for the future of radio broadcasting in Africa.”
