Beast of Two Worlds (Ajakaju), the latest Yoruba epic film to grace Nigerian cinemas, has achieved an outstanding box office performance, accumulating US$78,000.00 in just five days.

FilmOne Entertainment’s distributor revealed this impressive feat recently.

Beast of Two Worlds also garnered a remarkable US$48,715.75 during its opening weekend, as reported by the Cinema Exhibitors Association of Nigeria (CEAN) on the same day. This opening weekend success marks the highest for a Nollywood film released this year, surpassing even the Hollywood film Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, which debuted concurrently with a weekend gross of ₦49.3 million.

Despite this achievement, the CEAN is yet to release the film’s first-week gross performance data.

Beast of Two Worlds is a collaborative effort between Anthill Studios and Nollywood actress, Eniola Ajao, who takes on the role of a first-time producer.

The film narrates the tale of a king who faces exile from his kingdom unless he produces a male heir. His pursuit of a new wife in desperation leads to chaos within his domain.

Directed by Adebayo Tijani and Odunlade Adekola, the film stars a stellar cast, including Sola Sobowale, Femi Adebayo, Lateef Adedimeji, Mercy Aigbe, Bimbo Akintola, Fathia Balogun, Ibrahim Chatta, Peju Ogunmola, and Olayode Juliana.

Beast of Two Worlds joins the ranks of other successful indigenous epics in Nollywood such as Aníkúlápó, King of Thieves, Òrìṣà, and Jagun Jagun.
