Pay-TV provider MultiChoice has signed a multi-year agreement with The Walt Disney Company Africa to carry Disney’s linear channels on the DStv platform until 2027 – BMA has learnt.

The deal will allow DStv customers in Africa to continue enjoying National Geographic, National Geographic Wild, Disney Channel, Disney Junior, ESPN, and ESPN2 for the next four years. National Geographic will be available on DStv packages from Compact upwards, while Disney Channel and ESPN will continue to be accessible on all DStv packages. Disney Junior, Nat Geo Wild, and ESPN2 will be available through the DStv Access package and higher tiers.

Disney offers a range of English and Portuguese channels in Africa, including family and children’s channels, Disney Channel and Disney Junior, factual channels National Geographic and National Geographic Wild, and sports channels ESPN and ESPN 2. The two sports channels will give viewers access to competitions from the US National Basketball Association (NBA), National Football League (NFL), National Hockey League (NHL), Major League Baseball (MLB), and others.

This renewal of the distribution agreement between MultiChoice and Disney ensures that the six 24-hour channels will remain available to audiences across the continent. Christine Service, SVP and general manager of The Walt Disney Company Africa said that this deal marks another proud milestone in their long-term relationship with the MultiChoice Group.

Nomsa Philiso, CEO of general entertainment at MultiChoice South Africa, expressed her excitement about extending the partnership with Disney and offering DStv viewers the latest high-quality, premium kids, factual, and sports content.
