Landmark Partnership To Deliver A Publication Of Record, Content Exchange And Shared Streaming Platform For Nigeria’s Licensed Broadcasters
The Broadcasting Organisations of Nigeria (BON) and Broadcast Media Africa (BMA) today announced a landmark partnership to launch SIGNAL, providing Nigeria’s licensed broadcast sector with shared editorial, commercial, and streaming infrastructure.
For the first time in Nigeria, the broadcasting industry will now have a dedicated publication of record, an industry-wide content discovery and exchange platform, and shared streaming infrastructure developed for the collective benefit of licensed broadcasters.
SIGNAL brings these three functions together under one platform, backed by BON’s institutional leadership and its network of licensed television and radio stations.
Three Modules, One Platform. The Record: The authoritative editorial and intelligence platform for Nigeria’s broadcasting industry, covering policy, regulation, business, technology and industry developments. Its flagship publication will be the Annual State of Nigerian Broadcasting Report.
The Exchange: A dedicated content discovery and exchange platform for BON member broadcasters, enabling stations to identify, showcase, access and explore opportunities around broadcast content from across the industry. The Stream: A shared consumer streaming platform providing BON member stations with a professional digital home for live broadcasting, video-on-demand and archived content, delivered through common digital infrastructure.
Commenting on the SIGNAL initiative, Dr Yemisi Bamgbose, Executive Secretary of the Broadcasting Organisations of Nigeria, said: “This further strengthens BON’s position as the institutional home of Nigerian broadcasting — editorially, commercially and technologically — for the decade ahead. We look forward to SIGNAL as a strategic and important instrument for advancing Nigeria’s broadcast media sector.”
Mr Benjamin Pius, CEO and Publisher of Broadcast Media Africa, said: “SIGNAL brings together infrastructure that Nigerian broadcasting has long needed — an editorial home, a functioning content exchange and a shared streaming future. We at BMA are delighted to work with BON to bring this initiative to fruition for Nigeria’s broadcasting industry.”
Through SIGNAL, BON and BMA aim to create a stronger shared infrastructure for the Nigerian broadcasting industry: The Record will document, analyse and preserve the industry’s developments; The Exchange will create new opportunities for broadcasters to discover and access content; and The Stream will help participating stations bring that content and their live services to audiences across Nigeria through a shared Streaming platform.
Further details on the phased rollout of SIGNAL and the participation framework for BON member stations will be announced ahead of The Record’s launch on 1 October 2026.
