BMA Webinar: Intelligent Media Asset Management For The AI Era

The rapid growth of digital content is changing how broadcasters and media organisations approach content production, management and distribution. With content being created and distributed across television, streaming platforms, social media and digital channels, traditional approaches to managing media assets are increasingly being challenged.

This transformation will be explored at the upcoming Broadcast Media Africa webinar, “Smarter Workflows: How AI and Automation Are Transforming Content Production and Distribution,” taking place on Tuesday, 06 October 2026.

At the centre of this discussion will be the emergence of the Intelligent Media Asset Management (MAM) Hub, where AI and automation are helping media organisations move beyond simply storing content towards creating smarter, more connected and efficient content environments.

For many broadcasters, Media Asset Management has traditionally focused on storing, organising and retrieving video, audio and other media files. However, the increasing volume of content being produced means that organisations need more than repositories. They need systems that can understand content, enrich it with meaningful metadata, make it easier to discover and connect it with the wider production and distribution workflow.

AI is increasingly making this possible. Technologies such as automated transcription, speech recognition, object and facial recognition, content classification, translation and intelligent metadata generation can transform how media organisations search and work with their content. Instead of relying entirely on manual cataloguing, teams can use AI to analyse and organise large volumes of content, making valuable assets easier to locate and reuse.

This has significant implications for media archives. Broadcasters and content owners often hold years or even decades of footage and audio that can be difficult to search and repurpose. An intelligent MAM environment can help unlock this material by making archives more accessible and searchable, allowing existing content to be reused for new programmes, digital platforms, social media, streaming services and other forms of distribution.

The development of intelligent MAM also has the potential to change the wider content workflow. When MAM platforms connect with production, editing, cloud infrastructure, distribution, and other media systems, organisations can automate many processes that traditionally require manual intervention. This can reduce repetitive work, improve turnaround times, and allow production teams to focus more on editorial and creative activities.

For media organisations operating in increasingly competitive markets, the ability to produce more content and distribute it across multiple platforms without continually increasing operational complexity is becoming increasingly important. AI-enabled MAM can play an important role in this transition by connecting content management with the broader digital media workflow.

The webinar will examine how these technologies are developing and what they mean for broadcasters and content producers looking to modernise their operations. It will also consider the practical challenges of implementing intelligent MAM environments, including integration with existing systems, metadata quality, content security, rights management, data governance, and the responsible use of AI.

Benjamin Pius, CEO of Broadcast Media Africa, said: “Media organisations have invested heavily in building valuable content libraries, but the real opportunity lies in making those assets more intelligent, accessible and reusable. AI can help transform MAM from a system primarily used for storage and retrieval into a central hub that supports the entire content lifecycle, from production through to distribution and monetisation.”

As the media industry continues its transition towards cloud-based, automated and AI-enabled operations, the role of MAM is expected to become increasingly strategic. The Intelligent MAM Hub represents a shift towards a more connected approach to content management, where archives, production workflows and distribution platforms work together to create greater operational and commercial value.

The “Smarter Workflows: How AI and Automation Are Transforming Content Production and Distribution” webinar will take place on Tuesday, 06 October 2026, bringing together media and technology professionals to examine how AI and automation can support the next generation of content workflows.
