CAF Opens Broadcast Rights Tender For AFCON 2027

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has launched the bidding process for the broadcast rights to the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), branded “Pamoja 2027.”

The tender covers free-to-air television and pay-TV rights across Sub-Saharan Africa, with rights available in a range of languages, including English, Swahili, Portuguese, isiZulu, Wolof, Yoruba and other local languages.

Notably, French-language pay-TV rights are excluded from the current tender.

Broadcasters, media companies and other eligible entities interested in acquiring the rights have until 14 September 2026 at 5:00 p.m. Cairo time to submit their bids.

The 2027 AFCON will take place from 19 June to 17 July 2027, with Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda jointly hosting the tournament. The event will be a landmark occasion for East African football, marking the first time the three nations have jointly hosted Africa’s premier men’s football competition.

With AFCON attracting millions of viewers across the continent and beyond, the broadcast rights are expected to generate significant interest from television networks, pay-TV operators and media organisations looking to secure access to one of Africa’s most widely followed sporting events.

CAF’s latest tender forms part of its preparations for AFCON 2027 and reflects the organisation’s efforts to ensure extensive television coverage of the tournament across Sub-Saharan Africa.

The outcome of the bidding process will help shape how audiences across the region experience Pamoja 2027, while further highlighting the growing commercial and strategic importance of major sports broadcasting rights in Africa.
