Gabon To Boost Digital Infrastructure With New Green Data Centre

ST DIGITAL, a provider of cloud services, has announced plans to launch its first eco-friendly Tier III-standard data centre in Gabon within the year. This new facility is anticipated to significantly elevate the nation’s digital capabilities, resilience, and competitiveness in the region.

Designed to serve as a foundational support system for businesses, government bodies, and digital service providers, the data centre promises greater reliability, higher uptime, and enhanced security for data management operations.

This initiative is part of a broader movement across Africa, in which governments are placing greater emphasis on developing local digital infrastructure. The aim is to reduce reliance on foreign hosting services while fostering digital sovereignty.

Incorporating eco-friendly design principles, the data centre aligns with the global trend towards sustainability in technology. The focus on energy efficiency and minimising environmental impact is becoming increasingly important in the development of data infrastructures.

ST DIGITAL asserts that the data centre will be a crucial national asset, contributing to sustained economic growth in the long run. Experts note that achieving Tier III certification is particularly noteworthy, as it ensures high levels of redundancy and operational resilience, enabling the facility to support critical digital operations with minimal downtime.

With this development, Gabon is well-positioned to advance enterprise digitalisation, e-government services, and the deployment of emerging technologies that demand robust data environments.
