BMA Feature: AnimaxFyb Studios Eyes Global Expansion Following Landmark Success at African Animation Awards in Tokyo

ACCRA, Ghana – In a bid to improve its operations, AnimaxFyb Studios, a renowned animation studio based in Accra, Ghana, is seeking investment to expand and solidify its position in the global industry. This comes on the heels of the studio’s three prestigious awards in the recently concluded TAIDO African Animation Awards held in Tokyo, Japan.

This is a big win for animation in Africa, putting AnimaxFyb Studios in the same room with industry giants such as Bandai Namco and Toei Animation. In an interview, CEO and Creative Director Francis Y. Brown explained how this win was a testament to the studio’s innovative approach to animation and storytelling.

“This recognition means a lot to us. Being recognised by some of the best institutions in Japan, where anime originated, means that our quality is world-class.”

The company has managed to utilise Japanese technology alongside African stories through its affiliation with the TAIDO Project. This affiliation has influenced the company’s approach to animation, particularly in character development and storytelling. This approach has helped introduce Ghanaian mythology and folklore to the world without losing its essence.

Despite its successes, Brown still believes there is more work to be done in African animation. In fact, the African animation market is estimated to reach $15.7 billion in 2025.

“We still need investment in building animation infrastructure, putting us on par with some of the best animation infrastructure around the world. Once we get the right investment for IP generation and management, we’ll be ready to compete in the big leagues.”

AnimaxFyb Studios remains dedicated to telling authentic African stories, whether it’s about daily social interactions or ancient myths and legends.
