Ms Menesia Muinjo has been appointed the new Director General of the Namibian Broadcasting Corporation (NBC), effective April 1 2026, for a five-year term.

The announcement was made by Ms Emma Theofelus, the Minister of Information and Communication Technology, who said the appointment aligns with the government’s vision for public broadcasting in Namibia.

NBC Board Chairperson Lazarus Jacobs confirmed that the appointment was made in line with the provisions of the Namibian Broadcasting Corporation Act, in consultation with the Minister of Information and Communication Technology.

Jacobs said Muinjo brings extensive experience in institutional management, content development and stakeholder engagement, positioning her to lead the national broadcaster through its next phase of growth.

Muinjo steps into the role from her current position as NBC’s Chief of News and Programming, bringing with her a deep understanding of the country’s broadcasting landscape. She succeeds Stanley Similo, the outgoing Director General, who led the corporation through a period of significant challenges in the media sector.

In a statement, NBC expressed confidence in Muinjo’s capabilities, noting that her leadership is expected to strengthen the corporation’s effectiveness in delivering on its mandate as the nation’s public broadcaster — serving as a reliable source of information while ensuring high-quality programming that meets the needs of the Namibian public.

Her extensive background in news programming is seen as particularly relevant as the media industry faces rapid change and growing audience demand for timely, accurate and engaging content.
