Disney Announces New Film Release Dates Through 2029

Disney has finalised release dates for a variety of untitled projects, securing a place on the theatrical calendar through 2029. This move indicates Disney’s strategic planning for its upcoming lineup, which includes films from Pixar, Walt Disney Animation Studios, and Marvel.

According to a recent Deadline report, Disney has confirmed multiple dates in 2028 and 2029 for undisclosed projects. While specific titles and release dates remain under wraps, the studio’s commitment to filling its calendar hints at a busy few years ahead.

For 2028, an untitled Marvel movie originally scheduled for February 18 has been postponed to July 28, swapping dates with an unnamed Disney film that will now debut on February 18 instead. Additionally, Disney has acquired a November 10, 2028 date for another undisclosed project. Notably, a Marvel title that was previously tied to this date is no longer on the schedule.

Looking ahead to 2029, Disney has locked in several dates, including February 16, March 9, May 25, August 3, October 5, and November 9. Marvel will have notable releases as well, with films set for May 4 and July 13, while Walt Disney Animation Studios is set for June 15, and Pixar will round out the year with a film on November 21.

Moreover, some exciting titles are already slated for 2028, including the live-action sequel “Lilo & Stitch 2” on May 26, and “Incredibles 3” from Pixar, set for June 16. Although these anticipated releases aren’t connected to the newly announced untitled films, they highlight the full calendar ahead.

One possible speculation has emerged regarding Pixar’s reserved 2029 date, with many fans theorising it could be for “Coco 2.” This theory stems from an announcement a year ago by former Disney CEO Bob Iger, who said a sequel was in the works for a 2029 release. However, subsequent edits to social media posts raised questions about the timeline’s certainty.

Pixar also has a busy slate ahead with “Toy Story 5” slated for June 2025, “Gatto” on March 5, 2027, and “Incredibles 3.” The studio’s creative director, Pete Docter, has teased more projects in development, but none currently have specified release dates. Fans are eager for more updates and can expect official announcements during the upcoming D23 event in Anaheim later this year.
