MultiChoice Nigeria has officially appointed Kemi Omotosho as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective January 2026, following the retirement of John Ugbe.
In a statement released on Monday, the company highlighted that Ugbe has decided to step down after nearly 15 impactful years at the helm, during which he navigated the company through significant changes within the industry and market landscape.
With over 20 years of experience in media, telecommunications, and digital services throughout Nigeria and sub-Saharan Africa, Omotosho brings a wealth of expertise to the position. She has previously held prominent roles within the MultiChoice Group, including Executive Head of Customer Value Management in Nigeria and Group Executive Head of Customer Value Management for the wider African region.
Most recently, Omotosho served as Regional Director for Southern Africa, overseeing operations across seven countries.
Expressing her enthusiasm for the new role, Omotosho stated, “It is a privilege to be entrusted with the leadership of MultiChoice Nigeria at this important moment. Nigeria is one of the Group’s most strategic and dynamic markets. I look forward to collaborating with our teams and partners to strengthen our connection with consumers, promote local storytelling and the creative economy, and build a future-ready organisation that delivers sustainable value.”
The company further emphasised that Ugbe’s retirement and Omotosho’s appointment are part of a well-structured transition process designed to ensure continuity and stability within the organisation.
