In a recent update, Disney+ revealed a price increase for its subscription tiers, affecting both the ad-supported and premium plans. The standalone ad-supported plan will now be priced at US$11.99 per month, reflecting a US$2 increase. Meanwhile, the premium plan without ads will see a US$3 increase, bringing the monthly cost to US$18.99, or a US$30 annual increase, resulting in a yearly fee of US$189.99.
The Disney+ and Hulu ad-supported bundle will also increase by US$2 per month, while the combined packages featuring Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN will experience a US$3 increase. Similarly, bundles that include Disney+, Hulu, and HBO Max will see a monthly hike of US$3.
Notably, the NFL+ subscription plans will maintain their current pricing structure.
Disney hinted at these price adjustments during its third-quarter earnings call, forecasting moderate growth in Disney+ subscriptions for the fourth fiscal quarter. The last price increase occurred in October 2024, with most plans seeing an uptick of US$1 to US$2.
These price increases coincide with heightened scrutiny surrounding Disney’s management of “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” Following controversial remarks made by the host regarding the alleged killer of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, Disney subsidiary ABC temporarily pulled the show from the air last week. After facing backlash from viewers and fellow late-night hosts for this decision, Disney announced that the show would return to air the following Tuesday.
Responding to the controversy, some fans expressed their intention to cancel their Disney+ subscriptions in solidarity with Kimmel. Currently, Disney has not provided any commentary regarding the recent price adjustments.
