Jane Egerton-Idehen, Managing Director of the Nigerian Communications Satellite Limited (NigComSat Ltd), has been appointed Vice-Chair of the Global Satellite Operators Association (GSOA). This organisation represents the entire satellite ecosystem, encompassing both long-established operators and emerging innovators across all orbits and frequency bands.

Upon her appointment, Egerton-Idehen highlighted the significant role of satellites in providing equitable digital access, particularly in emerging markets where satellite technology often appears as the sole effective solution to bridge the digital divide. She expressed her pride in contributing diverse perspectives to global discussions and supporting GSOA’s mission to promote inclusive and sustainable connectivity.

Additionally, Ali Al Hashemi, the CEO of Space Services at Space42, was confirmed as the new Chair of the GSOA Board. Reflecting on his new role, Al Hashemi shared, “This means a great deal to me both personally and professionally. My tenure as Vice Chair since 2023 has allowed me to earn the trust and confidence of my fellow industry leaders, signalling our region’s vital contributions to global satellite innovation. I am honoured to take on this responsibility and look forward to building upon the strong foundation of GSOA. Our region has always been a hub of innovation and connectivity, and I am eager to bring that perspective to an industry that connects the world.”

Completing the new leadership trio, Adel Al-Saleh, the CEO of SES, was also appointed as the association’s new vice chair. Isabelle Mauro, the Director General of GSOA, welcomed these appointments, stating, “Ali, Adel, and Jane provide invaluable insights and leadership at a crucial time when global collaboration across the ecosystem is essential. GSOA’s mission is to unite the satellite industry to advocate collectively for the vital contributions we make to society—ranging from emergency responses and climate monitoring to universal broadband access.”

Under this new leadership, GSOA is poised to continue advocating for equitable access to spectrum, balanced regulatory measures, and the responsible use of outer space. The association remains actively engaged in global forums, aiming to promote sustainable practices, safeguard orbital environments, and ensure that satellite services remain an integral part of resilient global infrastructure.
