
Broadcast Media Africa (BMA), in a strategic partnership with the Southern African Broadcasting Association (SABA), today officially announced the inaugural Broadcast Media Awards—Southern Africa 2025. This flagship event will recognise and honour outstanding achievements in the region’s dynamic broadcast and media industry. The awards ceremony is scheduled for October 29, 2025, in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe.
The Broadcast Media Awards 2025 initiative is designed to elevate broadcasting standards across the Southern African region. According to organisers, the awards will serve as a premier platform to celebrate excellence, promote innovation, encourage integrity in journalism, foster collaboration among professionals, and support the next generation of emerging talent. The initiative reflects a shared commitment to recognising the impactful work that informs, entertains, and inspires millions across Southern Africa.

Nominations are now open, with a September 23, 2025, submission deadline. Eligibility criteria stipulate that projects or initiatives must have been completed between November 2024 and October 1, 2025. Applicants must be based in or actively serving one of the specified Southern African countries.
The awards will feature a comprehensive list of categories, encompassing a wide spectrum of the industry, including:
- Media Executive of the Year – Male/Female
- Best Local Content Range On TV
- Best Local Content Range On Radio
- Best Studio Design of the Year
- Best OTT/Streaming
- Satellite Operator of the Year
- SABA Evergreen / Special Recognition Award
The gala dinner in Victoria Falls is expected to bring together key figures from the media and entertainment sectors for an evening of networking and celebration.
