Ghana Set To Premiere ‘Captain Ibrahim Traoré: The Last African Hero’ This August

Ghanaian actor and filmmaker Lil Win is gearing up for the premiere of his new movie, Captain Ibrahim Traoré (The Last African Hero), scheduled for Saturday, August 2, 2025, at the Kumasi SG Mall.

Jackson K. Bentum directed and produced the film, which stars notable actors including Adjetey Anang, Sweet Mimi, Abodie, and Ghadafi.

‘Captain Ibrahim Traoré’ portrays the remarkable journey of Captain Ibrahim Traoré, a Burkinabé military officer who ascended to the presidency at the age of 34 after orchestrating a coup on September 30, 2022. The film highlights Traoré as a symbol of youthful leadership, African empowerment, and resistance against foreign dominance.

Since taking office, Traoré has focused on reducing France’s influence, strengthening relations with Russia, and promoting local economic development. While many praise his assertive strategies and focus on self-reliance, some express concerns regarding the rise of authoritarianism and persistent security challenges within the country.

Lil Win shared that his film encountered threats and challenges, as certain individuals were apprehensive about potential strife between Ghana and Burkina Faso. He addressed concerns that the film might portray Burkina Faso negatively, leading to a high-level review session where officials screened the movie to assess its implications.

“They watched the film in its entirety and concluded that it contained no elements that could ignite tension between the two nations,” he explained. “The film is free of negative portrayals, which ultimately resulted in the green light for its release.”

Amidst the public misinterpretations, Lil Win is calling for widespread support. He believes the film authentically represents African identity and invites movie enthusiasts to participate in the premiere.

“I encourage everyone to join us for this movie, as it reflects the true African narrative,” he stated.
