In a move poised to enrich television access across Sub-Saharan Africa, ViewMedia has reaffirmed its partnership with Intelsat, the satellite communications giant. The revitalised agreement sees both parties doubling on efforts to expand free-to-air (FTA) television offerings throughout the region.
At the heart of the collaboration is Intelsat’s IS-20 satellite, which plays a key role in supporting Africa’s leading direct-to-home (DTH) broadcast ecosystem. With this renewal, ViewMedia stands to grow its footprint by adding new entertainment channels and tapping into fresh advertising revenue streams.
Intelsat and ViewMedia will collaborate in the coming year to forge new alliances, particularly with bodies specialising in audience measurement and data analysis. Such collaboration is expected to sharpen insights into viewer preferences and refine the services offered.
“We’re keen to assist ViewMedia in offering a dynamic suite of entertainment options that resonate with Sub-Saharan audiences while also helping them to expand their business,” said Rhys Morgan, Intelsat’s Regional Vice President for EMEA.
This strengthened partnership will have a broad impact, with Nigeria and wider Sub-Saharan markets benefiting from improved access to high-quality programming. It also reflects Intelsat’s sustained investment in the growth of broadcasting infrastructure and content delivery across Africa.
