Broadcasters Eye Next-Gen Content Delivery Platforms To Stay Ahead Of The Game

As Africa’s broadcast and media industry undergoes a seismic digital transformation, all eyes are on the next-generation content delivery platforms that will define the future of broadcasting across the continent.

“The broadcast sector in Africa is at a crossroads. The decisions broadcasters make today about delivery systems and platforms will shape the industry’s trajectory for years to come,” says Benjamin Pius, Publisher of Broadcast Media Africa. “To stay competitive in an increasingly global marketplace, many are forging partnerships with telecom operators, technology providers, and content aggregators”, Benjamin added.

From digital terrestrial television (DTT) and over-the-top (OTT) services to mobile streaming, satellite, and hybrid broadband systems, African broadcasters are racing to reach today’s mobile-first, digitally connected audiences. The urgency to modernise infrastructure, enhance service quality, and monetise content effectively is reshaping the industry at an unprecedented pace.

This and many other equally important issues will take centre stage during the upcoming Broadcasters Convention—West Africa 2025, which will take place from 6 to 7 August 2025 in Lagos, Nigeria.

Convened by Broadcast Media Africa (BMA) in collaboration with the Broadcasting Organisations of Nigeria, the Convention will bring broadcasters, content creators, technology leaders, regulators, advertisers, and investors together to chart the path forward for African broadcasting.

With the theme “Broadcasting and Content Publishing in the AI-Infused Digital Ecosystem,” the Convention will explore the cutting-edge technologies transforming content delivery — from cloud-based playout systems and AI-driven workflows to innovative monetisation models and audience targeting strategies.
