SKYFive Arabia And AITA Partner To Enhance Aviation Experience In Egypt

SKYFive Arabia, a subsidiary of the SCIT Group, and AITA (Africa for Information Technology and Aviation) unveiled a new partnership to deliver in-flight connectivity (IFC) services using air-to-ground (A2G) technology to Egyptian airlines.

According to the company, this milestone represents a big step forward in regional aviation connectivity.

Under this agreement, AITA will deliver IFC services to all Egyptian airlines, utilising SKYFive’s A2G technology, which has been successfully deployed across Europe for several years.

This technology provides passengers and staff with easy, high-speed broadband connectivity, transforming in-flight experiences and operational efficiencies.

The company explained that while the aviation industry is growing in the Middle East and Africa, with Egypt being a prominent destination, the in-flight connection remains severely limited due to associated costs and technological limitations.

As a result, SCIT has announced a significant regional investment through its technological subsidiary, SKYFive Arabia, to equip airlines with A2G technology.

SCIT Group will use this investment to fund a number of strategic initiatives aimed at modernising and expanding A2G infrastructure across the region, including in Egypt.

It continued: “This will put Egypt on the global map of the latest IFC technology adoption, will increase the asset value of the equipped aircraft, but most of all put the Egyptian Aviation industry on a par with global Tier one Airlines already using SKYFive technology through Viasat’s European Aviation Network.

“Additionally, this will enable Egyptian Airlines to remain connected over Europe through the SKYFive/Viasat Roaming Agreement.”

Discussions with major Egyptian airlines on service implementation are underway, with sign-off likely soon, according to the business.

The first commercial aircraft is scheduled to be ready for operation on an international route between Egypt and Saudi Arabia by the end of 2025.

Mohamed Al Haddad, CEO of AITA, stated: “This agreement with SKYFive Arabia is a transformative milestone for Egypt’s aviation sector. By deploying advanced A2G technology, we are enhancing the passenger experience and positioning Egypt as a regional hub for innovation and connectivity. This partnership reflects our commitment to driving digital transformation and creating economic opportunities.”

Mohamed K. AbdelRehim, CEO of SCIT Group and SKYFive Arabia, added: “We are delighted to collaborate with AITA on this ambitious initiative. Our investment in advanced A2G technology will revolutionise aviation connectivity in Egypt and beyond.

“By targeting key routes to Europe, Saudi Arabia, and the Middle East, we aim to create a scalable model that benefits passengers, airlines, and the broader economy. This partnership underscores our commitment to innovation and sustainable growth.”
