Spacecom Secures US$3.8 Million Contract To Enhance Satellite Communication Services In Africa

February 11, 2025

Spacecom, a global fixed-satellite operator, has announced a US$ 3.8 million agreement with an African government client to deliver satellite communication services. The service will utilise Spacecom’s AMOS-17 satellite for 12 months. The AMOS-17 satellite, a multi-band high-throughput satellite (HTS), offers communication solutions across 49 African countries and parts of the Middle East, Asia, and Europe.

This agreement marks a significant step for Spacecom in expanding its presence in Africa and enhancing its reputation within the satellite services sector. The deal is anticipated to drive revenue growth and reinforce the company’s status as a reliable provider of communication solutions for government entities. Moreover, Spacecom is dedicated to delivering high-quality services through the AMOS-17 satellite, reflecting its commitment to a strong partnership with its African government client.

Since its launch in 2019, Spacecom’s AMOS-17 satellite has steadily broadened its reach across the African continent through various initiatives. In 2021, Spacecom reported that the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation transitioned to AMOS-17’s high-throughput satellite services for its digital terrestrial television (DTT) broadcasting. KBC, a government-run media company, showcases Spacecom’s strategic collaboration with public institutions.

Furthermore, AMOS-17 facilitates e-learning and internet connectivity for schools in Nigeria, helping to bridge the digital divide. In partnership with Zinox Technologies, Spacecom launched a multi-year contract in 2021 to provide quality educational access to children in Nigeria via the satellite’s C-band frequency. The satellite has also collaborated with clients in Angola, the pan-African telecommunications provider Paratus, and the Senegal Post Authority.

As a pivotal provider of satellite communication services in Africa, AMOS-17’s latest partnership announcement exemplifies Spacecom’s ongoing commitment to leveraging its advanced capabilities to deliver connectivity solutions across the continent.
