Viu Expands MENA Offerings With Arabic-Dubbed Korean Dramas

Viu, PCCW’s pan-regional OTT video streaming service, has started the year by bolstering its offerings for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region with two new Arabic-dubbed Korean series.

The first release, Family by Choice, a hit series that captured 40% of Viu’s total Korean content viewership in MENA during its subtitled debut in October and November, is now available in Arabic. This is followed by What Comes After Love, also dubbed in Arabic, which premieres in January, underscoring Viu’s dedication to providing a localised experience for its audience.

What Comes After Love is a romantic drama exploring themes of love, memory and second chances. It tells the story of Choi Hong Yi, played by Lee Se-Young (The Story of Park’s Marriage Contract, The Red Sleeves), who tries to move on from her past love, Joon Go, only to encounter him again as a famous writer promoting his book. The emotional reunion stirs up unresolved feelings and memories, leading to a journey of love and healing. The series is based on a bestselling Korea-Japan joint novel and stars Sakaguchi Kentaro as Joon Go.

Samer Majzoub, General Manager of Viu MENA, said: “As demand for Korean dramas grows, especially in key markets like the UAE and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Viu remains at the forefront of the K-wave by bringing high-quality localised content to Arab audiences across the region. We are excited to cater to audience preferences with one of the largest Korean selections in MENA, totalling over 300 Korean titles, including those with Arabic and English subtitles.”

Viu’s extensive library offers a carefully curated mix of simulcasts, original productions and localised content. Recent additions like Moonshine, Secret Love and The Innocent Man provide fans with a diverse selection of Korean entertainment. By continuing to localise popular titles, Viu reinforces its commitment to connecting global stories with regional audiences.
