Nollywood Film ‘Phoenix Fury’ Shines Bright At The 13th African Film Festival

Nollywood film Phoenix Fury recently won the Best Film award at the 13th edition of the African Film Festival, held at Oriental Hotel on November 10, 2024.

This year’s African Film Festival witnessed the recognition of stellar performances and outstanding films.

Directed by Ifeoma Nkiruka Chukwuogo, Phoenix Fury showcases a filmmaker’s ability to seamlessly blend past and present elements, serving us as a fine storytelling collage.

The film follows Ifeatu from birth through a series of unfortunate events that lead her to seek revenge against Yali, the man who wrecked her life. Divided into four chapters, we are on a journey with two main characters for each period. Through seamless transitions, the film effortlessly moves between two worlds—one rooted in the struggles of the past and the other in the complexities of the present.

Phoenix Fury features Nollywood stars, including Ama K. Abebrese, Ijeoma Grace Agu, Adjetey Anang, Onyinye Odokoro, Richard Mofe Damijo (RMD) and Uzoamaka Aniunoh.
