Broadcast Media Africa (BMA) is pleased to announce the distinguished panel of industry leaders appointed to judge the Broadcast Media Africa Awards 2026, bringing together senior expertise from broadcasting, content production, media development and the creative industries across Africa.

Now in its second edition, the Broadcast Media Africa Awards recognise outstanding people, organisations, programmes, platforms, technologies and initiatives that are helping shape the future of Africa’s media and broadcasting industry.

The 2026 judging panel comprises:

  • Sugar Chagonda, Director General of the Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation
  • Ngenda Kamayoyo, Director of Content Services at the Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation
  • Christina Bwana, Chief Operating Officer at Ubongo
  • Nadine Cloete, Production and Development Manager for Non-Fiction at the National Film and Video Foundation (NFVF)
  • Comfort Mbofana, General Manager of Zimpapers Broadcasting (Radio & TV).

The panel brings together experience spanning public service broadcasting, radio and television, content development, production, children’s and educational media, and the broader creative ecosystem. Their collective industry knowledge will support an assessment process designed to recognise work based on clear criteria, evidence and impact.

The awards are built around five key areas of industry excellence: Leadership & Organisational Excellence; Content & Creativity; Digital, Platforms & Audience; Technology & Transformation; and Commercial & Community Impact. The categories recognise achievements ranging from broadcast leadership and local content production to streaming, podcasting, audience engagement, broadcast technology, cloud and IP broadcasting, commercial innovation and community media.

Entries are open to broadcasters, producers, creators, platforms and technology partners across Africa. Eligible work must have been delivered, launched or substantially advanced between 1 July 2025 and 30 June 2026, in or demonstrably serving an African market.

Benjamin Pius, CEO of Broadcast Media Africa, said the appointment of the judging panel represents an important step in ensuring that the awards reflect the depth and diversity of Africa’s broadcasting and media industry.

“The Broadcast Media Africa Awards are about recognising the people, organisations and innovations making a meaningful contribution to the development of our industry. We are pleased to bring together a panel of experienced professionals who understand the realities of African broadcasting, content and media markets. Their expertise will help ensure that the work being recognised is assessed against clear and relevant industry standards.”

With nominations closing on 25 September 2026, BMA is encouraging broadcasters, producers, creators, media organisations, platforms and technology companies to submit their entries before the deadline.

The winners will be announced at the Broadcast Media Africa Awards 2026 ceremony on 24 October 2026 in Victoria, Mahé, Seychelles.
