Africa’s broadcasting and media industry is entering a new era of transformation, driven by artificial intelligence, cloud technologies, digital distribution, automation, evolving audience behaviour and new approaches to content monetisation.

The Broadcasters Convention – Southern Africa 2026 will bring together broadcasters, media executives, technology providers, regulators and industry stakeholders to examine how African media can navigate these changes and prepare for the next digital decade.

The 10th edition of the convention will take place from 22–25 October 2026 in Victoria, Mahé, Seychelles, hosted by the Seychelles Broadcasting Corporation (SBC), convened by Broadcast Media Africa (BMA) in collaboration with the Southern African Broadcasting Association (SABA).

The convention will explore the topic “Leading Broadcast Transformation: Preparing African Media for the Next Digital Decade,” bringing together industry leaders to examine the technologies, strategies and partnerships that will shape the future of broadcasting across Africa.

As audiences increasingly consume content across television, radio, streaming services, social media and connected devices, broadcasters must rethink how they produce, distribute, measure and monetise content.

Key discussions will focus on AI and automation, cloud and IP-based broadcasting, digital content distribution, audience measurement, cybersecurity, content protection and sustainable revenue models.

The convention will also address the importance of developing the skills and leadership needed to manage technological and organisational change, while strengthening collaboration across the African media ecosystem.

Benjamin Pius, CEO of Broadcast Media Africa, said, “Africa’s broadcasters are entering a defining decade. Transformation is not simply about adopting new technologies—it is about rethinking how media organisations operate, engage audiences and create value. This convention will provide an important platform for the industry to share ideas, build partnerships and identify practical strategies for a future-ready African media sector.”

The Broadcasters Convention – Southern Africa 2026 will give industry leaders an opportunity to connect, exchange insights, showcase solutions, and explore partnerships that can accelerate the transformation of broadcasting across Southern Africa and the wider continent.
