Spacetoon And Samaka Studio Forge Partnership To Transform Animation In The MENA Region

In a groundbreaking partnership, Spacetoon has joined forces with Samaka Studio to co-create original intellectual properties (IP) and animated productions. This collaboration aims to establish globally scalable franchises that are designed for success across multiple platforms.

Spacetoon, a leading entertainment company in the MENA region and Türkiye, has made a strategic investment by acquiring an equity stake in Samaka Studio, a Cairo-based animation firm. This move marks a significant advancement in Spacetoon’s mission to foster the creation of original IP and the development of global franchises. The announcement was made at the Saudi Film Confex 2025, highlighting the growing significance of animation as a vital creative industry in the region.

Unlike conventional production agreements, this partnership symbolises a long-lasting creative collaboration between both entities. Spacetoon and Samaka Studio will collaborate to craft animation franchises that are globally scalable, merging innovative storytelling with commercial success.

Established in Cairo and now operating in Abu Dhabi, Samaka Studio has gained international acclaim for its distinctive visual style and compelling narratives. Its impressive portfolio includes partnerships with giants such as HBO, YouTube, and Amazon Prime, as well as curated content for global brands such as HSBC and Careem.

Kamel Weiss, Spacetoon’s Director of Business and Content, stated, “Our objective is to develop enduring franchises that resonate. This partnership exemplifies our long-term commitment to creating original, meaningful IPs and timeless stories. We have been highly impressed by the talent and vision of the Samaka Studio team. Their commitment to quality is on par with global standards, and we are proud to support them on this journey.”

Mahmoud Hemeda, CEO of Samaka Studio, expressed, “We have always believed that regional animation can stand proudly alongside global counterparts, featuring countless untold stories that unite families and embody lasting visual artistry. Over the past eight years, we have highlighted these narratives. With our partnership with Spacetoon, we’re poised to make a greater impact, demonstrating that Arab animation can thrive on the global stage. Together, we are amplifying our vision, expanding our creative horizons, and shaping the next wave of regional creativity.”

Through this new partnership, the two companies will collaborate to enhance IP creation, improve production capabilities, and establish a regional hub for animation innovation. Samaka Studio will maintain its creative independence while developing exclusive titles for Spacetoon and continuing to produce outstanding animated content.

This collaboration marks the start of a broader strategic initiative to transform animation in the region. Samaka Studio will continue to develop its original IPs—including titles like R.E.M. and Kamaroza—while also exploring new creative opportunities with international collaborators.

With this alliance, Spacetoon and Samaka Studio are determined to create stories that transcend borders, connect with generations, and elevate Arabic animation to unprecedented global prominence.
