The streets of Hong Kong’s Tai Hang neighbourhood burst into life as one of the city’s most spectacular cultural traditions — the annual Fire Dragon Dance — returned to mark the Mid-Autumn Festival.
The attached video captures the breathtaking scene as hundreds of performers lead a magnificent dragon made of more than 10,000 glowing incense sticks through the narrow lanes of Tai Hang. Surrounded by cheering crowds, the display radiates energy, unity and cultural pride.
More than 300 volunteers come together each year to bring the fiery dragon to life — a remarkable act of endurance and community spirit. After the performance, incense sticks from the dragon are distributed to spectators as tokens of good fortune and blessings.
Recognised as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage event, the Fire Dragon Dance stands as a living testament to Hong Kong’s enduring traditions and collective resilience.
