In an exciting move reflecting the evolving landscape of content creation, Telemundo Studios has announced an expansion into alternative content production. It will introduce innovative mobile-first formats that focus on vertical, short-form storytelling to engage a new generation of Spanish-speaking viewers.

The new mobile-focused initiative starts with “María, Mother of God,” a groundbreaking biblical vertical series produced in collaboration with VIP 2000 TV, marking a milestone in faith-based storytelling.

The complete franchise will be showcased at Content Americas 2026, where attendees can expect an exclusive preview of the new slate.

Javier Pons, Chief Content Officer and Head of Telemundo Studios, expressed, “With this fresh mobile-first lineup, we are building on Telemundo’s rich heritage of Spanish-language drama while adapting to how current audiences consume their favourite shows.” The initial offerings include original titles such as “María, Mother of God,” as part of a diverse four-title series. This reinforces Telemundo’s commitment to leading in Spanish-language scripted formats across all platforms.

The portfolio is designed to cater to a wide variety of viewers, from reimagined classics like “Armas de Mujer” and “Diario de un Gigoló” to original productions tailored for mobile formats. According to Telemundo, this strategy allows audiences to rediscover beloved narratives while also enjoying new and engaging content that resonates with modern viewing habits.

“María, Mother of God” comprises 25 episodes that creatively reinterpret one of the Bible’s most famous love stories for today’s audience. This project marks the beginning of a planned series centred on biblical romance, with upcoming titles that include Moses and Zipporah, Samson and Delilah, and John the Baptist and Salome.

María Eugenia Muci, Content Director at VIP 2000 TV, commented, “This initiative encapsulates our dedication to crafting impactful content that inspires viewers of all ages and backgrounds. We’re confident these narratives, approached with a fresh and emotionally engaging lens, will connect with new audiences. Our collaboration with Telemundo Studios represents the vertical journey we initiated earlier this year in Miami, emphasising our drive for innovative formats. Each franchise possesses a distinct voice, and religious storytelling remains a vital part of our portfolio. We strongly believe these biblical love stories are poised for
