
The BMA/SABA Broadcast Media Awards – Southern Africa 2025 is pleased to unveil its distinguished panel of judges.
The awards, scheduled to take place on 29 October 2025 at the Victoria Falls Safari Lodge in Zimbabwe, will honour outstanding achievements in television, radio, and digital media in Southern Africa.
The judges comprise leading figures from media, technology, academia, and industry. Each brings unique expertise and a deep commitment to excellence, innovation, and integrity in the broadcasting industry.
Meet Our Judges
- Nada Wotshela
- Group Executive: Radio, SABC. A seasoned broadcasting executive, Nada’s leadership at one of South Africa’s major public broadcasters brings invaluable insight into radio and public media operations.
- Jacqueline Lawrence
- CEO, Highlands FM Radio (Mbeya, Tanzania). Jacqueline holds a background in international business and finance, and has been recognised for her contributions to entrepreneurship and media in Tanzania. Her experience spans economic trend analysis, marketing, business development, and community impact.
- Marcolene Roach-Mabebe
- Director, South African Community Radio Organisations (SACRO). With extensive experience in community radio, marketing, public relations, and media training, Marcolene strongly connects to grassroots broadcasting and development in South Africa.
- Mpumelelo Mnisi
- Head of Programmes, Eswatini TV. Mpumelelo brings deep experience in programme planning and content leadership, which is critical for assessing creative output and broadcast quality.
- Zainab Suliman
- Deputy Director, Centre for Learning Technologies, University of Stellenbosch. Zainab offers a perspective on educational technology and learning innovation, which are increasingly interconnected with media and digital content.
Menen Agegnehu
- Sales Manager, SES. With over 16 years of experience in the technology and satellite media markets, Menen combines technical expertise with commercial and strategic insight, particularly in reach and distribution.
This judges’ panel represents a cross-section of the Southern African broadcast ecosystem, encompassing policy and public media, community radio, digital innovation, content production, technology, and infrastructure. Their collective expertise will help ensure that the BMA-SABA Awards continue to be a fair, credible, and inspiring benchmark for the industry.
