The Saudi film industry has made impressive strides, generating over US$26.66 million in box office revenue since the beginning of 2025. This remarkable growth highlights the increasing popularity of domestic films, as evidenced by the Saudi Film Commission’s report indicating that eight Saudi productions have commanded 19% of the total box office this year—a clear sign of rising audience trust in local cinema.
Films like Shabab Al-Bomb 2, Hobal, Al-Zarfa, Is’af, Fakhr Al-Suwaidi, Leil Nahar, Saifi, and Tashwish lead the charge. Notably, Al-Zarfa distinguished itself in the week of July 13–19 by raking in $6.02 million in ticket sales, earning it the second spot at the box office, just behind the Hollywood release F1 The Movie, which topped the charts with $7.01 million.
In that same week, cinema ticket sales across the Kingdom reached an impressive US$6.93 million, with international films like Superman and the Egyptian film Ahmed and Ahmed trailing in third and fourth place, grossing US$2.05 million and US$0.93 million, respectively.
The increasing success of Saudi films represents a significant development in the Kingdom’s cultural and entertainment scene. It showcases both the enhanced quality of local productions and their strong appeal to domestic audiences.
