The Central Procurement Board of Namibia (CPBN) has officially concluded a procurement agreement with Intelsat Ventures valued at US$6.8 million. This contract aims to provide Direct-To-Home (DTH) Transmission Services for the Namibia Broadcasting Corporation (NBC).
This initiative is set to greatly enhance the national broadcast reach, aiming to achieve full television and radio coverage throughout Namibia. NBC’s television services reach 74.5% of the nation, while radio services cover 78%. The planned DTH rollout is expected to address these shortcomings within six to seven months, ensuring that all Namibians can access broadcast services regardless of location.
This project aligns with Namibia’s broader objectives of promoting digital inclusion and ensuring equitable access to vital information. It also underscores the CPBN’s commitment to fostering national development through transparent and effective procurement practices that yield significant benefits to the public service.
