Safaricom has partnered with Africa Data Centre to introduce East Africa’s first AI-ready data centre services for enterprise and cloud solutions.

This collaboration aims to provide scalable and cost-effective data storage, backup, and computing solutions tailored for corporations and governments. As Kenya positions itself as a leader in AI, clients will benefit from local infrastructure for their demanding AI workloads.

Dr Peter Ndegwa, CEO of Safaricom, stated, “With the rapid growth of East Africa’s digital economy, businesses need robust infrastructure that supports innovation, including AI workloads. Our partnership with Africa enhances our enterprise services to meet global standards while promoting sustainable growth.”

The integrated infrastructure will enable businesses throughout East Africa to handle advanced AI tasks with compliance and speed. This comprehensive solution includes everything from data storage to managed services under a single Safaricom contract.

iXAfrica’s NBOX1 Nairobi Campus, with a design capacity of 22.5 MW, is the largest data centre project in Greater East Africa. It is strategically located to access renewable energy sources.

This partnership opens new avenues for AI in various sectors, including finance and retail, enhancing efficiency and compliance. Overall, it marks a significant step in Kenya’s digital transformation and strengthens East Africa’s position as a technological hub.
