Red Sea Film Foundation To Take The Cannes Film Festival By Storm

May 13, 2025
Reading Time: 1 min read
A A

The Red Sea Film Foundation is stepping onto the international stage with purpose, bringing four bold and culturally resonant films to the 78th Festival de Cannes. These selections—nurtured through the Red Sea Fund, Red Sea Souk, and Red Sea Labs—mark another stride in the foundation’s mission to champion cinematic voices from the Arab world, Asia, and Africa.

Promised Sky, directed by Tunisian Erige Sehiri, kicks off the Un Certain Regard section. It is followed by Aisha Can’t Fly Away, a gripping portrait of life on society’s margins by Egyptian director Morad Mostafa.

Shifting gears, Japanese director Momoko Seto unveils Dandelion’s Odyssey, an imaginative plunge into sci-fi territory.

The lineup closes with Life After Siham, a poignant documentary by Egyptian filmmaker Namir Abdel-Messeeh. It is an emotionally textured exploration of familial love, grief, and storytelling’s healing potential.

Beyond the screen, the Red Sea Film Foundation will host a slate of networking sessions for festival-goers to join the “Meet the Red Sea Team” panel—an opportunity to connect with the minds behind this rising cinematic force.
