Citizen TV has again demonstrated its supremacy in the Kenyan media industry, claiming the No. 4 position in Superbrands East Africa’s 2024 Consumer Survey. Labelled as distinctive, reliable, and superb, Citizen TV joins global media giants such as CNN and the Financial Times.
The yearly survey by international insights firm Kantar examined over 1,000 brands in Kenya. Only a handful were Superbrand material, and Radio Citizen also featured in the list at No. 7. This accomplishment makes Royal Media Services (RMS), the parent company of both platforms, the lone broadcaster with a television and radio brand in Kenya’s top ten.
Jawad Jaffer, Project Director at Superbrands East Africa, presented The Superbrand award to Carol Wachira, Director of Marketing and Digital Transformation at RMS. “In every iteration of this survey, Citizen TV and Radio Citizen are in the top ten. This testament is to entrench trust among millions of Kenyans,” Jaffer observed.
Wachira also agreed, referring to the award as a testament to RMS’s commitment to excellence. “This award speaks to our commitment to providing credible news, quality content, and compelling productions. We are privileged to be a voice of trust in Kenyan media.”
More than 85% of Kenyan consumers trust the Superbrands seal, a sign of great public confidence in Citizen TV’s journalistic professionalism and creative narration. Superbrands, a global authority in branding, has accredited more than 42,000 case studies worldwide and is a gold standard of brand recognition and trust.
For Royal Media Services, this recognition supports a two-decade legacy of service to the public, reliability in content excellence, and a vision for the future of African media.
