The Hollywood African Cinema Connection (HACC) Festival will leave its mark on the world. An action-packed lineup of events is set from April 11th to 14th. This year’s festival will feature a new and dynamic mix of empowering films, thought-provoking speakers, and innovative workshops that will propel African cinema to new heights.

One of the points of significance for this edition is that the festival has become an official partner of blockchain platform Stellar Network (XLM). The pact is a benchmark for African directors as Stellar strives to expand on the continent and provide momentum for blockchain filmmaking development.

Weaam Williams, the Festival Director, expressed excitement about having Steller as part of the festival. “We are delighted to have Stellar as part of the HACC Festival. Their support elevates the profile of African films and introduces the potential for blockchain-based technology that can transform the industry,” said Weaam Williams, Festival Director. “With Stellar on board, we see new possibilities and increased recognition for African talent.”

The festival’s collaboration with the Desmond and Leah Tutu Legacy Foundation adds a cultural dimension. The foundation features a powerful anti-apartheid display showcasing historic photographs of the late Archbishop Desmond Tutu, honouring his legacy of activism and resilience.

The festival kicks off with standout African films like South Africa’s “Hans Crosses the Rubicon” and Morocco’s “Milk Brothers”, both of which celebrate the continent’s rich storytelling tradition. Screenicontinent’slowed by networking with filmmakers, industry pros, and investors over food, music, and lively discussion. The festival also features masterclasses and panels on film production, distribution, and digital tech in African cinema. Kicking off is a session on “Blockchain & Film Financing” with Yaliwe Mlambo and Nicolas Mugisha of AltVest Capital, exploring how blockchain can transform funding and global distribution.

As the festival unfolds, attendees can look forward to various networking sessions with industry influencers, Hollywood decision-makers, and other creatives. These sessions will culminate in a glitzy awards ceremony that will celebrate the outstanding contributions of African filmmakers.
