Telecom Egypt And Orange Egypt Strengthen Ties With US$297 Million Strategic Agreements To Enhance Connectivity And Launch 5G Services

Telecom Egypt and Orange Egypt inked numerous multi-million dollar major service agreements this week to strengthen strategic cooperation between the two firms.

These partnerships will help Orange Egypt improve its technology offerings and better satisfy the needs of its clients.

According to the two companies, this collaboration reflects an increase in technological investments in the Egyptian market, a focus on enhancing digital infrastructure, and the continuous expansion of innovative service offerings.

Mohamed Nasr, managing director and CEO of Telecom Egypt, and Yasser Shaker, managing director and CEO of Orange Egypt, signed the agreements in the presence of Dr. Amr Talaat, minister of communications and information technology, and Mohamed Shamroukh, CEO of the National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA).

According to the parties, the entire value of these agreements is around $297 million, which will be disbursed over their term.

They added: “They include an extension of transmission services for another three years, till 2032. They also include a new deal to offer fibre-to-the-site (FTTS) services to Orange’s mobile sites for three years.

The two firms also inked a Service Level Agreement to bolster Orange’s position as a high-speed mobile internet and telephony service provider.

In a joint statement, they stated that these agreements will also help Orange Egypt prepare to launch its 5G services.

The agreements also include revisions to the existing fixed internet services agreement, which are aimed at enhancing the cost-efficiency of telecommunications services.

Orange Egypt will be able to provide better deals and pricing to customers thanks to more efficient commercial models, allowing higher-tier packages to be delivered to end users at more reasonable rates.

The two organisations’ long-standing relationship has laid the groundwork for great commercial connections in the Egyptian market, propelling it forward and providing optimal benefits to all involved.

Dr Amr Talaat commented: “Looking ahead, more initiatives and agreements will be introduced to achieve further advancements.

“Over the past three years, NTRA and mobile operators have collaborated to expand and deploy mobile towers nationwide, covering urban and rural areas.

“By mid-2025, we expect that mobile tower coverage for all three phases of the ‘Decent Life’ villages project will be completed at a total cost of EGP 9 billion. Additionally, mobile services will fully cover all newly constructed highways.”

Shaker added, “These initiatives will help increase operational capacity, enhance efficiency, and further solidify Orange’s position in Egypt as a leading provider of telecommunications and mobile internet services.

I would also like to extend my gratitude to Dr. Amr Talaat, minister of communications and information technology, for attending the signing of these agreements.

“His presence provides valuable motivation for both companies to strengthen their strategic collaboration, drive the delivery of more advanced services to customers and bolster the competitiveness of the Egyptian ICT market.”

Nasr said: “This relationship is further strengthened through our ongoing efforts to expand the deployment of our fibre-optic network, connecting over 1,000 of Orange Egypt’s mobile sites and supporting their expansion in providing high-speed fixed internet services.

“These long-term agreements reaffirm the confidence in Telecom Egypt’s reliable infrastructure and extensive technical expertise, solidifying our position as the preferred partner for operators seeking to develop their businesses and meet customer demands.

“Additionally, I would like to emphasise that these agreements will help us maximise the returns on the substantial investments we have made in recent years to enhance our infrastructure.”
