Netflix has appointed Kaye-Ann Williams as the new director of scripted content for Netflix Africa, effective February. In her role, she will oversee the development and production of scripted films and series throughout sub-Saharan Africa.

As Williams steps into this position, there is still uncertainty regarding the alignment of her role with that of Dorothy Ghettuba, who previously held the title of director of original series at Netflix Africa.

Kaye-Ann Williams comes to Netflix Africa from Primedia Studios, where she served as vice president of content for a brief period starting in mid-2024. Prior to that, she led the scripted series and movies division at Amazon MGM Studios and Prime Video for South Africa until the unit was disbanded at the beginning of last year. She also has extensive experience with MultiChoice and M-Net, where she focused on series and film development.

Williams will report to Ben Amadasun, Netflix’s vice president for Middle East & Africa content. He expressed enthusiasm about her joining the team, emphasising Netflix’s long-term commitment to African storytelling. “Kaye-Ann is a true champion of world-class storytelling,” said Amadasun. “I look forward to collaborating with her to enhance our remarkable work to deliver captivating stories from Africa and nurture our local creative partnerships.”
