BeIN Sports Extends English Football League Broadcasting Rights For Four Years

BMA has learnt that BeIN Media Group has extended its exclusive broadcasting rights for more than 300 matches from the English Football League (EFL) for an additional four years. The renewed agreement, which covers 27 countries across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), France, Australia and New Zealand, underscores BeIN’s commitment to maintaining its status as a premier sports broadcaster.

The multi-year deal, negotiated by Pitch International, the EFL’s media rights distributor in Europe and the Middle East, commenced alongside the 2024-25 season and will continue through the 2027-28 season. Under this agreement, BeIN’s flagship platforms, including beIN Sports and the OTT platform TOD, will hold exclusive rights to air 155 matches from the Championship, 38 games from Leagues One and Two, all Play-Off matches across the EFL, and, for the first time, all 93 matches of the Carabao Cup each year. BeIN has held exclusive EFL rights for over 14 years.

Commenting on the deal, Mohammad Al-Subaie, CEO of beIN MENA, said: “In addition to being the oldest football league in the world, the EFL is also one of the most competitive football ecosystems globally. beIN is proud to see its relationship with the EFL extended until the end of the 2027-28 season, by which time we will have been together for more than 18 years. We look forward to four more years of drama, tension, talent, and determination. We are delighted to continue to provide our subscribers access to the finest moments and greatest matches from every corner of English football.”

Ben Wright, Chief Commercial Officer at the EFL, added: “The EFL ranks among some of the most exciting football competitions and captivates supporters worldwide. As long-term partners of the League, we’re delighted to continue working alongside BeIN Media Group and further establish the League as a premium football product for a global audience over the next four years.”

The English Football League, founded in 1888, was England’s top-tier football competition until the Premier League was created in 1992. Today, the EFL consists of three divisions with 24 clubs each, including historic teams like Blackburn Rovers, Leeds United, Sunderland, and Notts County. Among the 72 teams are four Welsh clubs, including Wrexham, which gained international attention after being purchased by Hollywood actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney in 2020.

The EFL’s Championship regularly features top talent, with the top three teams earning promotion to the Premier League each season. Notably, 19 of the 26-man England squad that reached the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 semi-finals had played in the EFL, including captain Harry Kane and Real Madrid’s Jude Bellingham.

This renewal ensures that fans across 27 markets can continue enjoying exclusive, high-quality coverage of the EFL through 2028.
