MTN Group Announces New Leadership Appointments In Congo-Brazzaville And Nigeria

MTN Group has made new leadership appointments, with Mohammed Rufai becoming the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of MTN Congo-Brazzaville and Ayham Moussa taking on the role of Chief Operating Officer (COO) of MTN Nigeria. Rufai, who has over 24 years of experience in the ICT industry, will assume his new position on 1st September, while Moussa will start on 19th August 2024.

Rufai’s impressive track record in the telecoms sector includes various senior roles within the MTN Group. He is currently serving as the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of MTN Nigeria and has held positions such as the regional CTIO for Southeast Africa and Ghana.

Meanwhile, Ayham Moussa, who rejoined the MTN Group in 2006 after a brief hiatus, has served in various markets, including Syria and Guinea-Conakry. He has played a significant role in advancing the technology landscape of MTN Congo-Brazzaville. He has been credited with expanding the company’s business health and accelerating its growth and operational excellence.

The MTN Group also announced the voluntary early retirement of MTN Côte d’Ivoire CEO Djibril Ouattara and the departure of MTN Nigeria COO Hassan Jabbar. MTN President and CEO Ralph Mupita expressed his gratitude for their contributions and extended his best wishes to them for their future endeavours.

Mupita congratulated Ayham and Mohammed on their new appointments and wished them success in their respective roles.
