Zimbabwe: Regulator Announces Decoders To Boost Local Talent And Content Creation

The Broadcasting Authority of Zimbabwe (BAZ) has introduced the ZimDigital set-top box decoders, a game-changer for Zimbabweans. These decoders open the doors to a world of local and regional content from seven HD television stations: 3KTV, ZTN Prime, NRTV, Kumba TV, Ke Yona TV, Channel D, and ZBCtv. With these decoders, you can access seven TV channels and six national radio stations without the hassle of monthly subscriptions.

Under the leadership of Mathias Chakanyuka, BAZ’s technical director, the Broadcasting Authority of Zimbabwe has taken a significant step towards enhancing Zimbabwean talent and content creation.

He highlighted, “We have prioritized the installation of transmission infrastructure nationwide, beginning with border areas. Establishing these crucial transmission structures allows the public to access digital services through set-top boxes or decoders.”

These devices are instrumental in accessing various local content broadcasted by our seven television channels, marking a significant landmark in our efforts to offer free entertainment to the public. This initiative aims to foster Zimbabwean talent and content creation, supporting the local entertainment industry.

It represents an improvement in enriching the viewing experience for Zimbabwean audiences.
