TelCables Opens A New Point of Presence (PoP) Facility In South Africa

Broadcast Media Africa has learnt that TelCables South Africa, a subsidiary of Angola Cables, has established a new Point of Presence (PoP) at the Teraco Riverhorse facility in Durban, South Africa.

As a leading global provider of ICT solutions and Africa’s most interconnected operator, Angola Cables aims to enhance East-to-West connectivity in South Africa and across the continent with the new Durban PoP.

The facility will function as a crucial gateway for ISPs, fibre network operators, and content delivery networks requiring stable, low-latency connections. The high-speed data exchange platform also links to other subsea cable systems and redundancy options on 2Africa, Peace, Metiss, and Seacom networks.

Sudhir Juggernath, the CEO of TelCables South East Africa, stated that the new Durban PoP would fulfil the growing demand for ‘as a service’ solutions and promote digital infrastructure in the area.

Businesses will have access to TelCables’ international Tier 1 IP and IPX Network, as well as the option to connect to over 66 global data centres. These networks are backed by low-latency routing options to West Africa, South America, the USA, the UK, Europe, and Asia. Users of the PoP can also benefit from peer-to-peer networking and various integrated solutions, including IP transit, direct internet access, global data centre interconnect (GDI), cloud services, and other applications.

The establishment of this PoP will pave the way for the development of new networks and digital ecosystems throughout the East Coast of Africa and South Africa. By facilitating the participation of more local ISPs and businesses in the global digital economy, the Durban PoP is likely to empower the region and contribute to its growth.
