Nigeria: MultiChoice Lowers Subscription Prices For DStv And GOtv

July 21, 2024

Following a court order mandating that it halt the move to hike prices, MultiChoice has readjusted its subscription rates for DStv and GOtv users in Nigeria.

Responding to a decline in its subscriber base in Nigeria, MultiChoice had initially vowed to challenge the order of the Competition and Consumer Protection Tribunal’s ruling in Abuja. This decline led to the loss of over a million subscribers, prompting the company to take action.

MultiChoice has now reflected the readjustment on its apps as of Sunday, June 16, 2024. These new rates are designed to provide stability and predictability for our subscribers, ensuring they can plan their budgets accordingly.

As part of the readjustment, DStv subscribers will now pay US$19.73 instead of US$24.75 for the Premium package, while Compact+ package subscribers can now pay US$13.24 instead of the new price of US$16.72. This adjustment aims to ensure a fair and affordable pricing structure for our valued subscribers.

The readjustment now has Compact Bouquet subscribers paying US$8.36 previously being charged instead of US$10.50, while Confam package subscribers will pay the old price of US$4.95 instead of US$6.22 per month.

For the Yanga package subscribers, the old rate of US$2.81 will be paid instead of the new rate of US$3.41, while Padi subscribers will pay the former price of US$1.97 instead of US$2.41.

The same goes for GOtv subscribers, who are now required to pay the old rates of US$8.36 for the Super+ package instead of US$10.50.
