In Nigeria, production company EK 782 Films recently announced that they have acquired the film and TV rights to Adesuwa O’man Nwokedi’s 2023 novel, The Marriage Class. The book will be adapted into a six-part drama series set in Lagos, and Lagos-based writer Eno Udo-Affia will be writing the script.

EK 782 Films is a new production company dedicated to producing, financing, and distributing quality films and TV shows that reflect cultural movements in Lagos, Johannesburg, Dubai, and Riyadh.

The company was founded by producers Enyi Omeruah and Stephen Strachan but is based in the United Arab Emirates.

The Marriage Class is a novel that follows a group of couples who take the same marriage counselling classes before getting married and find themselves at a crossroads in their relationship with one key question: will they or won’t they? The story explores the challenges and difficulties of relationships and marriage in modern-day Lagos.

Enyi Omeruah, one of the producers of EK 782 Films, expressed her admiration for Adesuwa’s work, stating that she fell in love with the characters and world she created in modern-day Lagos. The scriptwriter, Udo-Affia, shared that she was thrilled to have the opportunity to adapt the book into a TV series, saying that the novel tackles the most vital issue of the day – marriage.

Enyi Omeruah and Stephen Strachan will oversee the development of EK 782 Films. The production company’s dedication to producing quality content that reflects contemporary cultural movements in major cities worldwide is evident in their acquisition of The Marriage Class.
