Broadcasters Practitioners Seek Solutions To “Industry Funding” Challenges At Forthcoming Convention In Abuja – Nigeria

Adequate funding and financing remain critical to the growth and sustainability of Africa’s broadcasting organisations and institutions. How this is achieved sustainably is the primary focus of the forthcoming Broadcast and Digital Media Convention – West Africa 2024, to take place on August 14-15 at the Nicon Luxury Hotel in Abuja, Nigeria.

Collocated with the 1st Annual National Conference Of The Society Of Nigerian Broadcasters (SNB) and convened by the Broadcasting Organisations of Nigeria (BON), the convention is designed to empower industry stakeholders and players.

According to the organisers, the industry meeting will assist industry leaders, practitioners, regulators, and policymakers in better assessing the multiple roles, responsibilities, and opportunities that will allow them to handle and manage the changing role of broadcast media professionals within society – especially as digital media and AI services become a stark reality.

Mr Benjamin Pius, CEO of Broadcast Media Africa, underscores the importance of the upcoming Broadcast and Digital Media Convention – West Africa 2024. He states, “The convention provides a critical platform for stakeholders to discuss and address the rapidly changing media landscape, fostering collaboration and innovation in the region’s digital broadcast landscape.”

The digital broadcast sector can overcome financial barriers by leveraging governmental support, fostering public-private partnerships, attracting venture capital, and engaging with international development agencies. Addressing regulatory hurdles, improving access to credit, and managing market uncertainties will be key to sustaining this growth and ensuring the long-term viability of the digital broadcast ecosystem in West Africa.
