Airtel Networks Zambia has announced the appointment of Hussam Baday as its new country managing director. The announcement was made by Monica Musonda, the board chairperson of Airtel Networks Zambia, who expressed her pleasure at the appointment.

Baday has an impressive background in the industry, having previously served as Airtel Zambia’s chief commercial officer. He was also the company’s marketing director from 2018 to 2021. Baday holds an MBA and a B.Sc in Electronics and Communications Engineering, as well as professional certifications from the Chartered Institute of Marketing (UK) and Harvard Business School.

Before joining Airtel, he worked for Sudatel Telecom Group, Ericsson, and Huawei. According to Musonda, Baday has a proven track record in effective commercial strategies, business development, and execution.

This appointment comes after Airtel Zambia’s recent clash with the Zambia Information and Communications Technology Authority (ZICTA) over frequent network disruptions. ZICTA fined Airtel Zambia an undisclosed amount for violating parts of the Information and Communications Technologies Act and Quality of Service requirements.
