In South Africa, MultiChoice has disclosed that a new telenovela called “Champions” will soon replace “The River” on Mzansi Magic.

Produced by Tshedza Pictures, the show will feature the story of Sne Modise, a woman who runs the male-dominated soccer empire of the Soshanguve Giants football club. The show is set to premiere on February 5th at 19:00, with new episodes airing during weekdays in the same timeslot.

Described as a “story of passion, power, and perseverance,” “Champions” celebrates ambition, positivity, and the resilience of the South African people. The cast includes veteran actors such as Sello Maake ka-Ncube, Tumisho Masha, Kgomotso Christopher, Jo-anne Reyneke, and newcomers Rethabile Mohapi and Minkie Malatji.

The show’s executive producer, Phathushedzo Makwarela, expressed excitement about the collaboration between Tshedza Pictures and Mzansi Magic and anticipates that viewers will join them on an incredible journey.

Sne Modise’s character will face challenges, love, and betrayal while battling the intense drama as the underdog. Yet she’s determined to challenge gender norms and lead the Soshanguve Giants FC to success.
