As the digital landscape evolves at an unprecedented pace, the need for regulatory regimes that can keep up with this transformation becomes increasingly critical. The Broadcast and Digital Media Convention – West Africa 2024, taking place on August 14-15 at the Nicon Luxury Hotel in Abuja, Nigeria, will explore the theme “Regulatory Regimes for a Converged World.”
Organised as part of the first international conference for the Society of Nigeria Broadcasters (SNB) and convened in partnership with the Broadcasting Organisations of Nigeria (BON), the event’s convenors have highlighted that “West Africa is uniquely positioned to lead the conversation on regulatory regimes for a converged world. With a rapidly growing digital landscape and a youthful population eager to embrace new technologies, the region has the potential to set an example for others.
According to the event organisers, the Broadcast and Digital Media Convention—West Africa 2024 will provide a platform for stakeholders to discuss these critical issues and explore the path forward. As media convergence continues to reshape the industry, regulators, industry players, and policymakers must collaborate to create a regulatory environment that supports innovation while protecting consumers and preserving cultural diversity. By doing so, we can ensure a vibrant and dynamic media landscape that benefits all.
