In Nigeria, Nigcomsat Limited has recently announced a partnership with the Broadcasting Organisation of Nigeria (BON) to offer uplink services through the Nigcomsat satellite network. This collaboration aims to improve the quality and accessibility of broadcasting services for BON members throughout Nigeria over the next three months.

This partnership, in line with the mandate from the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy under the supervision of Minister Dr. Bosun Tijani, will see Nigcomsat utilizing its advanced satellite technology to provide support to BON and its member organizations. Through this collaboration, BON will have access to Nigcomsat’s reliable and high-performance uplink services, ensuring consistent broadcast signal quality for viewers nationwide.

In a statement regarding the partnership, Jane Nkechi Egerton-Idehen, Managing Director and CEO of Nigcomsat, highlighted the commitment to driving digital transformation and enhancing connectivity across Nigeria. She expressed optimism about the opportunity to elevate the country’s broadcasting landscape by collaborating with the influential Broadcasting Organisation of Nigeria and bringing the benefits of satellite technology to millions of Nigerians who rely on these crucial services.

The collaboration is set to commence immediately, with Nigcomsat’s technical team working closely with BON to integrate their systems and ensure a smooth transition. This strategic partnership underscores Nigcomsat’s dedication to supporting the growth and development of Nigeria’s media and communications sectors, ultimately empowering citizens with access to reliable and informative content.

Dr. Yemisi Bamgbose, Executive Secretary of BON, expressed gratitude to Nigcomsat Ltd and Egerton-Idehen for their support and special consideration for BON members. The agreement includes the allocation of two transponders at discounted rates and a commitment to support the broadcasting industry.

Dr Bamgbose also confirmed that BON members had been promptly informed of this development and are expected to benefit from this collaboration, which is poised to add significant value to the country’s broadcasting industry.
