AREWA24, the leading Hausa-language family entertainment and lifestyle television channel and production studio in Nigeria and West Africa, announces a major new slate of original shows, films, and dramas and the acquisition of several top Hausa-language drama series exclusively for its streaming service, AREWA24 On Demand.

To celebrate AREWA24’s 10th Anniversary, AREWA24 has just launched its dynamic new studio-based youth show, “Arewa Gen-Z,” which is aimed at Northern Nigeria’s huge youth population.

“Arewa Gen-Z,” produced and hosted by youths, focuses on the contemporary challenges faced by young people daily. The weekly half-hour show will showcase inspirational success stories, art, music, and youth culture. It also presents a platform for youth-friendly brands to connect with young people from across northern Nigeria.

AREWA24 will soon unveil the network’s first feature film, “The Jaru Road,” a compelling and authentic Northern Nigeria story produced in English, targeting audiences across Africa and beyond. The company has slated four additional films for production in 2024 – 2025, some in the Hausa language for local audiences in Nigeria and West Africa and some in the English language for African and global viewers.

In addition, AREWA24 is launching “Climate Change Africa,” a show which will delve into the critical impact of climate change in Nigeria, across Africa, and the rest of the world. “These new shows reflect AREWA24’s deep commitment to producing locally relevant and authentic original studio shows, dramas and films, and at international standards of production quality,” says Celestine Umeibe, AREWA24’s Chief Commercial Officer and Deputy CEO.

“This slate of new shows demonstrates our ability to produce compelling content for our local audiences, as well as content that will travel well internationally and give viewers in the rest of Africa and around the world a slice of authentic life from Northern Nigeria and West Africa.”

AREWA24 will continue producing new seasons of its flagship original hit drama series, “Kwana Casa’in and “Dadin Kowa,” and is developing three new original drama series to debut at the end of 2024 and into 2025. The first of the new drama series, “Jos Chronicles,” is set in the Middle Belt city of Jos and will be produced in English and Jos Hausa. The series is a dramedy – part drama and part comedy – focused on the complex intertwined relationships of five close friends and is expected to appeal strongly to Middle Belt audiences. “Jos Chronicles” will also be distributed by AREWA24 on its streaming service for Pan-African and global television audiences.

AREWA24 is also partnering with several top A-List Independent Hausa drama/Kannywood producers to debut their drama series exclusively on AREWA24 ON Demand and the AREWA24 television network.

More About AREWA24:

AREWA24 and its production arm, AREWA24 Productions, were launched in 2014 to fill a glaring void of authentic, locally produced and high-quality Hausa language entertainment and lifestyle programming that reflects pride in Northern Nigerian life, culture, music, film, art, cooking and sports.  Today, AREWA24 reaches 40+ million Hausa speakers in Nigeria and West Africa through its Eutelsat satellite free-to-air broadcast on the StarTimes payTV bouquet (channel#138), the two Multichoice payTV platforms, DStv (channel #261) and GOtv (channel #136), and on the Canal+ payTV service (channel #297) in Niger, Chad, and Cameroon.

AREWA24 benefits from active audience engagement across its digital platforms at AREWA24.com, facebook.com/AREWA24, and Instagram.com/AREWA24channel. AREWA24 also operates a global streaming service, AREWA24 On Demand, in partnership with Vimeo.

To subscribe to the global streaming service, AREWA24 ON DEMAND, go to http://tv.arewa24.com or download the app from the IOS App Store, Google Play, Apple TV, Roku Channel Store and Amazon Fire TV.
