The African Union of Broadcasting (AUB) will hold its 15th General Assembly from September 3 to 5, 2024, in Gaborone, the capital of the Republic of Botswana, on the theme “The future of African media facing the challenges of new technologies and changing climate.”
This 15th General Assembly is not just a meeting but a gathering of minds from across the African continent. It will bring together Chief Executives of the media and broadcasting industry, officials, experts, academics, content creators, and representatives of sister Unions and partners, all united in their commitment to the future of African media.
This year’s event is a unique opportunity to delve into the challenges and opportunities presented by the rapid evolution of digital technologies in the audiovisual media sector. The AUB is dedicated to exploring Africa’s role in the generation and management of metadata for the creation of audiovisual content in the era of artificial intelligence, transforming the audiovisual professions through AI, and devising innovative strategies to cater to the evolving needs of African audiences in an increasingly digitalized media landscape.
The AUB General Assembly serves as a significant platform to not only discuss the future of African media but also to foster and strengthen regional and international cooperation. It is a call to action, raising awareness and engaging citizens in the collective fight against climate change.
