The Broadcasting And Digital Media Convention for East Africa kicked off on Tuesday, 7th May 2024, at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, with various keynotes, panel discussions, and networking opportunities. Hosted by habeshaview and convened by Broadcast Media Media, this event attracted participants from across the East African media landscape, with professionals and executives from broadcasting, digital media, and related industries in attendance.

The central theme of “the transformative role of media in society” marked Day One sessions with speakers and panels confirming that modern media offering is about entertainment and education, advocacy, and community building, thereby significantly influencing the media industry.

Day One of the meeting also evaluated the regulatory frameworks governing media and broadcasting in East Africa, highlighting the importance of clear, fair regulations that protect the public interest and foster innovation in the industry.

The convention also delved into the impact of digital media on traditional broadcasting. The exponential growth of streaming platforms, social media, and user-generated content has revolutionized how audiences access and consume information, a trend that was extensively discussed.

Overall, the Broadcast And Digital Media Convention – East Africa comprehensively reviews the industry’s challenges and opportunities to shine a light on the future of media in East Africa, which holds tremendous potential for innovation, creativity, and positive social impact.
