Morocco’s SNRT Reveals Radio Audience Data As New Schedule Prioritises Local Reach

Morocco’s state broadcaster SNRT has launched its new radio schedule with detailed network-level audience figures, providing a rare public view of radio consumption across one of North Africa’s major public broadcasting groups.

The new schedule, launched on 5 October, puts SNRT’s combined radio audience at approximately 9.37 million listeners in 2026, with average individual listening reported at 30 minutes and 20 seconds.

Radio Mohammed VI du Saint Coran accounts for the largest audience within the group, reaching approximately 7.63 million listeners, while introducing three new programming strands. Radio Nationale and Chaîne Inter collectively reach around 4 million listeners and are adding a new morning programme alongside debate and current-affairs programming.

Radio Amazighe reaches approximately 2.9 million listeners and is expanding its locally focused output, while Chaîne Inter continues to provide news bulletins in French, Spanish and English. SNRT’s regional stations are also increasing programming focused on issues including health, agriculture, education and the environment.

The publication of network-level audience figures is significant for the wider media market. Such data can provide advertisers and agencies with a clearer basis for planning campaigns, while also offering broadcasters, content producers and technology suppliers a benchmark when assessing programming and commercial opportunities.

The figures also provide context for SNRT’s programming strategy. Rather than relying solely on national programming, the broadcaster is placing greater emphasis on proximity, debate and audience-specific services, including expanded Amazigh-language and multilingual content.

This points to a broader role for radio as a locally responsive medium, particularly as broadcasters compete with increasingly fragmented digital audiences. Language and regional relevance can provide public broadcasters with ways to maintain audience relationships that extend beyond headline reach figures.

SNRT has not published programme-level ratings, meaning the network totals currently provide the most detailed public view of its radio audience. Nevertheless, the disclosure offers a useful benchmark for advertisers, media planners and broadcasters monitoring radio consumption and programming strategies in North Africa.
